We Didn’t Deserve Real Sociedad Defeat – Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique believes his team’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad yesterday was not a fair result and they deserved more out of the game.
The Catalans took on David Moyes’ Real Sociedad as La Liga kicked into action after the winter break, but an own goal in the second minute by Jordi Alba condemned Barcelona to their third league defeat of the season.
Enrique started the match with his main attacking threats Neymar and Lionel Messi on the bench, but even their introduction in the second half couldn’t break down a resolute Real Sociedad defence.
“It is difficult to attack a team that is closed, and La Real shut things up more than normal after they went 1-0 up”, Enrique said at his post-match press conference.
“I had the feeling it would be difficult when the game began. I only remember the play in which we did well.
” Enrique believes his team deserved more out of the game for the number of chances they created.
“There were lots of scoring opportunities. The result is not a fair one, I think we deserved more. We have not had much good fortune.
” Barcelona will face one of their toughest encounters this season when they take on the defending champions Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou this Sunday.
