Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has stated that his playing days are over and he would relish the opportunity to follow the path of former manager Pep Guardiola in the future to coach the Spanish heavyweights.
The petit attacking midfielder replaced Guardiola as Barcelona’a playmaker after Louis van Gaal promoted him to the first team and now he has revealed his intention to manage the ‘La Blaugrana’.
“I would like to follow the path of Guardiola”, the 34-year old midfielder told Spanish newspaper El Pais.
Xavi is a key member of of a golden generation for Barcelona and Spain, but he says it was not easy to shoulders comparisons to Guardiola.
“My playing days are numbered, that is crystal clear. I can feel it in my body”. He stated further.
