CAS to announce decision on Barcelona’s transfer ban on Tuesday

The Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) will tomorrow announce the final decision on Barcelona’s two-window transfer ban, and the verdict will determine whether the Catalan club can sign any new players before January 2016.

Barcelona was handed a two-window transfer ban by FIFA due to inconsistencies in youth transfers, and the club was also given a fine. Barcelona appealed the decision and the case has been studied by CAS for the past several months.

The final decision is set to be made public on Tuesday. According to newspaper AS, the Barcelona board is not very optimistic, and don’t believe that CAS will go against the ruling earlier made by FIFA.

The Barcelona representatives have tried to convince CAS that the irregularities in youth transfers are solely administrative, and have also issued additional documentation to CAS.

If CAS upholds the ban, Barcelona won’t be able to sign until January 2016, but will, however, be able to renew players who are at the end of their contracts, and bring back loaned-out players, such as Gerard Deulofeu and Denis Suárez.
